The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (State-run Museums) will blow your mind with antiquities at the Pergamon through to the latest edginess at Hamburger Bahnhof and everything in between. A Basic Annual Pass gives you access to them all Mon-Fri 4-6 and 11-1 Sat/Sun if you are thinking of going hard.

The Martin Gropius Building houses major (usually contemporary) art exhibitions, run by the Berliner Festspiele (which also runs various main-ish stream festivals like Theater Treffen etc.
Berliner Festspiele runs the major festivals, including Foreign Affairs, Jazzfest Berlin, MaerzMusik, Musikfest Berlin and Theatertreffen. Always worth booking early to get the cheap tickets (if you don't mind sitting up the back).
Museumportal Berlin is a handy listing with lots of the major institutions, and it lets you search by what's free, or open on Mondays etc.

Over-exposured and much too trendy is Berghain, the club, and famous for the incredible quality of its soundsystem. Occasional art happens here too.
